Brian, you will never be forgotten!!
Brian's Story
Brian W. Doucette was a 3-Star, All-American boy. He lived in Berwick Maine, where he graduated from Noble High School, in 2006. Later in the Fall, he attended Bridgton Academy Prep School. Brian loved to play football, baseball, lacrosse, but his passion was Hockey. Many believe that Brian was born with skates on his feet. Hunting, fishing, and bonfires were his way of bonding with family and friends. His stories about "the one that got away" seemed to captivate his audience. His trade-mark was his "girl-gettin' gear": a pair of jeans, work boots, a flannel shirt with the arms ripped out, his famous ball cap, just ever so slightly off to one side and, most of all, his contagious smile (this is missed every day!).
On January 8th, 2007 the Doucette Family’s World was changed forever! The Bridgton Hockey team’s game was canceled later in the day, so Brian and three other Hockey players went to a nearby college to visit some friends. Because of curfew, the boys had to be back to school by 10:00 that night. While driving back to school they were involved in a tragic car accident. Brian and another boy, Patrick Reddy (from Lynnfield, MA) both died from injuries due to the crash. The driver is now paralyzed, and the other had minor injuries.
The Smile Every Mile for Douce 5K Road Race/Walk will send 100% of the proceeds to the Brian Doucette Scholarship Fund, a fund that was started shortly after the accident.
